Hee Kee Fried Crab Expert Ltd 喜記避風塘炒辣蟹 @causeway bay

DON'T GO THERE!

this restaurant makes u feel like they are trying to swindle money out of u. i felt so bad for the tourists that come here. i feel so bad that i stumbled into this place. NEVER AGAIN.

the whole restaurant just gives u a dark shady feeling. they all look like gangsters. female gangsters. when i was there, only one waitress was running around serving the 3 tables. the others ones were drinking beer and wine and chatting it up with some guy?!?! WHO DOES THAT??!

also the so-called famous chili crabs here, come out to be $660 HKD for the smallest one they have. the other tables kept asking the waitress to go back and find a smaller crab...and they said there is nothing smaller than this $660 crab. the other table ordered it in reluctance. i refused to order it so just ended up getting some other dishes. i have nothing against the chef. he is fine. i just think this shop is dark and evil. overpriced and terrible service. never ever stepping inside or near this restaurant!

Arirang at Times Square @ Causeway Bay

i came here on a tuesday night for dinner. this location is prime. sitting inside the time square shopping mall.

this place has a very nice ambiance. good for both business dinners and family outings. we got a seat w/o reservations.

the price is similar to the korean bbq in nyc. about $300HKD per bbq dish. we ordered the beef short ribs. it was marinated to perfection. the meat was tender and juicy. also ordered the spicy cod roes with tofu and turnip slices stew and japchae (stir fried noodles).

i thought the appetizers were great, however, they didn't refill them!! the korean restaurants in both nyc and new jersey refill their appetizers. -_-

japchae was very delicious. the spicy cod roes were just OK. not exactly the way i wanted. i was craving for them for the longest time. i had better ones in new jersey. i cannot wait to go back to jersey to have them again. also one thing was they didn't ask us how spicy we wanted for our stew pot. it came out very mild, which was fine with me b/c i don't eat spicy food anymore. if u want it spicy, make sure you specify in case the waiter forgets to ask you.

definitely will go back there again!

Senshuraku Japanese Dining 千秋樂 @ causeway bay

Summer in HK is unbearable. my face is breaking out big time and i think the air is just too dirty. :( i cannot wait for autumn and winter to come. i also started my full time job and it's really busy. i pretty much eat out every day every meal and on the weekends as well.

i went to Senshuraku at causeway bay (6/F, Goldmark Building) on a wednesday night for dinner with 3 others. this building is very busy around dinner time. almost every restaurant has a bunch of people waiting. we wanted to go to another restaurant but decided to find one that has no lines. i wasn't sure if no lines here meant that it wasn't good, but we decided to give it a try.

we ordered a meal set for 2 and then added on a fried rice and some sushi pieces. sea urchin for $98 was definitely cheap, i have been to places where they charge $300 for even smaller portions. the eel sushi was extra delicious, usually they wouldn't give you such big piece of eel!

the fried rice was very tasty although it was a big oily. the beef wrapped around enoki mushroom was very good as well. overall, i would come here if all other restaurants have no seats.

lots of dishes to choose

not very crowded, so i guess we can come here as a backup in the future

salad with special delicious dressing

big piece of eel sushi - very good

sooo many sea urchin!

fried rice - pretty good but a bit oily

ordered more sushi as there is a 15% discount at 9 pm

beef slices wrapped around enoki mushroom - tastes good when it's very hot

Macau Restaurant 澳門茶餐廳 @ causeway bay

Around 11 pm on a Friday night, I came to this Macau Restaurant at Causeway Bay. I was craving for some golden fried pork chop and baked rice.  this restaurant (HK diners style) has two floors and waiters were relatively fast with their service, not necessarily good service, but i am not going to complain.

First of all, there are so many selections on the menu. you can come here 5 times a week, and it'll take you a few weeks to try everything on the menu. another thing i notice with a lot of restaurants in HK/china is that they change their menu options frequently, i guess to keep people coming back to try new items.

ended up trying their famous pork buns with scramble eggs and two pieces of fried dumpling meal set. the buns were crispy and perfectly baked. i have to say this was my favorite dish of the night. portion size is small. i would recommend ordering 3 dishes to share among two people. their pork chop over rice was delicious, it was fried then baked with rice. the seafood was delicious too, however, the portion was too small, when you finish the seafood, you still have a lot of rice left.  overall, i think it's a good tea restaurant but the portion size is just too small. if you are really hungry, don't come here. i would go back just for the pork chop buns, maybe for an afternoon snack.

this is just one page of the menu, there are 4 more. usually this type of restaurant only has one page of selections!

Steak Expert at Tsing Yi

I came to Steak Expert one Saturday night. it was around 9 pm and the restaurant wasn't packed. the ambiance is nice. apparently it's nicer than other branches. the place looks clean.

if you are craving for a piece of good american steak, come here and don't be cheap and order the cheap steaks, you gotta order the $400 HKD American steak. it really tasted like the steaks i had back in NYC. although this is no Peter Luger and gosh i miss Peter Luger's steaks, this is a a place to go when you are craving for the american flavor steak. i also got to try the meal set that included the escargot, which was very delicious. also i had the lobster. it was very good but VERY SMALL. i felt hungry when i finished eating it. The steak was delicious. we ordered it medium, and it really depends on each person's preference. i definitely recommend this steak expert place if you are at the tsing yi station/mall! there are a lot of places to eat at Tsing Yi Mall, but if you are craving for steaks, definitely come to this one!

makes u feel like you are sitting on a boat

doesn't look THAT big, but it was very filing!

entrance, looks kinda scary, i wouldn't have walked in by myself. they need to make it more friendly!
