So I wandered into Under Bride Spicy Crabs restaurant at Wanchai. It's apparently very famous here. A lot of tourists from other countries all come here. I saw a family from Korea and a group of business men from Japan. The restaurant looks new and apparently it has 4 levels!!! that's pretty big considering it's located in Wanchai!
We ordered their famous fried rice, and their signature Under Bridge Spicy Crabs (Mild Spicy) and also clams. I have to point out that despite the fact that the food was very tasty, I felt cheated...the crabs are sold at "market price". we asked for the actual market price for one crab, our waiter said the under bridge spicy crab was $488 HKD for one and he emphasized "ONLY $488, nothing lower". half way through my meal, i heard the waiter telling another table that their crab is $380HKD. then again, to another table at $380. I did not appreciate this act at all, normally i would have pointed it out and give that guy a piece of my mind if this was back in NYC.... anyway, just to be more careful! i thought it was a bit expensive for the crabs, but still acceptable. i will have to try its neighboring restaurants to compare.
The signature Under Bridge spicy crab is placed underneath a enormous pile of garlic, scallions, and onions. it was delicious. the crab meat was soft and white. hands down, it was one of a kind and one of the best crabs i have ever tasted. however, i just cannot forget the audacity of that f$#king lying waiter. i don't think i can go back there any time soon. besides, there are MANY crabs restaurants on the same block! I can't wait to try them!
