in the basement level of prince's building at Central

I had a chance to dine at DOT COD last month and it was a delicious fancy meal. I was craving for some non-asian food. specifically I was craving for their fish and chips and loved everything about the restaurant. We drank a bottle of red wine as well and it was soooooo good. thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. it's a great place for business lunches or happy hour or romantic occasions. i hope i get a chance to go back there again, next time i want to try their sea bass!!

Maxim's Palace - @ Sheung Wan

I went to Maxim's Palace for dinner again last week, but this time I went to a new location at Sheung Wan. The food there was exceptional once again. I loved every dish and it was not expensive considering we had lobsters, abalone slices and other delicious seafood.  The lobster was very flavorful and tasted very fresh. the abalone and mushroom and bok choy dish was exceptional done well. the mushroom was not too hard like other places. i loved the mushroom so much! We had around 10 dishes and the total bill came out to be around $900 HKD!  definitely recommend it for anyone that's in HK!

abalone with mushroom and bok choy - one of my favorite dishes.

seafood soup

cuttlefish ball

some sort of fish, no bones in those filets!! love it.

i am not a fan of fermented veggies (酶菜), this had some of those ferment veggies on top of the green leaves -- ehh, not a fan but everyone else loved it.

this dessert was very good too! tasted like coconut and some nuts and other healthy ingredients. <3

Haagen Dazs Green Tea Crispy Sandwich! Delicious!

On a sizzling hot and humid summer day in HK, all I want to do is to live inside a refrigerator....or surround myself with ice creams! Luckily there is a 7-11 in front my place. I wanted an ice cream bar but ended up getting a Haagen Daza Green Tea Crispy Sandwich. It was SOOO GOOD! i have never had this flavor before in the U.S.  So I thought why not, let's try it. it was significantly expensive than the other brands. I also bought a Nestle brand dark chocolate bar (it was $10HKD for two!!!!) unbelievably cheap and also very delicious!

Back to this amazing green tea sandwich ice cream. the green tea flavor is very authentic but not too strong like some other places. it really is crispy on the outside!! I loved it. I wanted to eat more but it was around $30 HKD for just one!! I can buy 6 of those Nestle bars!!!

Anyway, it was definitely worth it and I think everyone who enjoys green tea flavor will love this ice cream!

月牙湖夜上海 (Crescent Moon Shanghai Night?) - Amazing Shanghai-style food

This was a memorable lunch in Nanjing. I was treated at this amazing restaurant. it's next to a historical wall and a big lake...such a poetic location. i wish i can live there!! every dish was memorable...gosh i would go to Nanjing just to eat here again!

this individual bowl size soup was so delicious - not oily nor salty.  after you try it, you'll just feel like you'll live 100 more years! it has quail eggs inside!

amazing beef dish! full of flavor! again, perfection!

individual rice dish - very very flavorful. i think it was abalone slice on top. ..i cannot remember ::embarrassed::

amazing fish. although it had some bones, but it was definitely a special fish! very tender! delicious! must try! apparently it's a local fish, you won't find it anywhere outside of nanjing!

string beans - with bits of foie gras - i usually don't like goose liver but it tasted delicious and delicate.

turnip slices - A-MAY-ZING...i promise you that you will find another turnip dish like this EVER!! must must must try! it's crispy and not oily at all!

very very pretty place!
next time i bring any friends or relatives to nanjing, i will take them to dine here!!! definitely a great place to take clients too!

Dong Lai Shun 东来顺 in Nanjing

Dong Lai Shun's original restaurant opened in 1903 in Beijing and after that, many other branches appeared all across the country. Dong Lai Shun is famous for its beef and lamb dishes. they specialize in mongolian styled thinly sliced beef for hotpot. this time i went and tried their lamb, beijing style crispy duck, and beef. i think everyone should try it at least once. i usually don't like to order so many fried food but it was worth it. i highly recommend the duck and lamb dishes there. i think it's best to go there during winter times. i went on a sizzling hot summer day, and i was sweating too much after eating there. i still thoroughly enjoyed it!

上海精菜馆 - Delicious Shanghai food in Nanjing

fresh and cooked to perfection! not many bones either!!

fancier version of hot and sour soup. it had sea cucumbers!

sticky rice and abalone wrapped with bamboo papers. not too sweet or overpowering, just pure perfection!

beautiful dish - pear with stuffing, feels so refreshing!

amazing shrimp! the sauces were sweet and just PERFECT - FAVORITE SHRIMP DISH  EVER! so crispy you can even eat the skin!

salad dish, it felt very healthy and natural but there was a hint of wasabi sauce and that was kind of too strong!

some cold cuts - duck and pork and some other goodies. looks simple but tasted sophisticated!

Last month when I went to Nanjing, China, I had an opportunity to dine at this amazing restaurant. The decorations look tasteful and the food was very delicious. the restaurant has more than 5 floors! it was huge! the first floor is open space, but everything above first floor is private rooms. we got to sit at a private room. you have to make reservation at this restaurant b/c it is just that crowded! i think everyone should go there if you go to nanjing!!!

Gui Ling Gao - "Turtle Jelly"

Let's face it...HK is not the best place to live in terms of weather. IT'S WAY TOO HOT AND HUMID. my body was aching so much the first two weeks when I first got here. I didn't do anything but my body would feel like i was a manual laborer. You know some older people would complain that their joints were hurting every time it rains...well that's exactly how I felt and it rained almost every other day.

Luckily I was introduced to Gui Ling Gao, it's a chinese herbal jelly, sometimes called Turtle Jelly. I am not really sure if it contains turtles these days. I care more about the herbal additives. Gui Ling Gao is good for improving skin conditions, improving circulation, relieving itching, reducing acne..etc etc.

this guiling gao place was a local store at Sheung Wan, it was only $35 each. less expensive but the place didn't have AC. it tasted just as good as those name brand turtle jelly. i couldn't tell the difference.

guil ling gao and some herbal tea that was really bitter.

I highly recommend trying one time. The most popular brand is Hai Tian Tang, which is a chain company, you'll see branches at almost every block in HK! it's $50 HKD for each Turtle Jelly. The store also sells other herbal teas, which I highly recommend as well. However, they are usually black and bitter. I only like the "Gui Ling Tea" b/c it's less bitter.

I really do feel better after I eat it or drink the gui ling tea. I swear it makes my whole body feels healthier! i really want to open a franchise store near my apt!! haha.
